I asked you all to help me program a Guardians of the Galaxy-style “mix tape” for Nathan McBride. Wow – you sure delivered! 😀 Thirty one songs to choose from, and I’m incredibly grateful for your input. We had loads of fun discovering each others’ musical tastes, trying out songs we’d never heard before, and revisiting beloved classics.
Here are ten tracks that’ll be rocking Nathan’s world over the coming days. Enjoy as we count down to Hired to Kill (July 3rd). As always, I would love to know your thoughts in the comments!
“Lunatic Fringe” – Red Rider
Lunatic fringe
In the twilight’s last gleaming
But this is open season
But you won’t get too far
‘Cause you’ve got to blame someone
For your own confusion
We’re on guard this time (on guard this time)
Against your final solution
“Battle Without Honor Or Humanity – Hotei
Instrumental
“Bad Company” – Five Finger Death Punch (Bad Company Cover)
Company, always on the run
Destiny, mmm, is a rising sun
Oh, I was born six-gun in my hand
Behind a gun, I make my final stand, hey
It’s why they call me
Bad company and I can’t deny
Bad company ’til the day I die
Oh, ’til the day I die
‘Til the day I die
“Feeling Good” – Nina Simone
Stars when you shine
You know how I feel
Scent of the pine
You know how I feel
Oh freedom is mine
And I know how I feel
It’s a new dawn
It’s a new day
It’s a new life
And I’m feelin’ good
“Whatever it Takes” – Imagine Dragons
Whip, whip
Run me like a racehorse
Pull me like a ripcord
Break me down and build me up
I wanna be the slip, slip
Word upon your lip, lip
Letter that you rip, rip
Break me down and build me up
Whatever it takes
‘Cause I love the adrenaline in my veins
I do whatever it takes
‘Cause I love how it feels when I break the chains
“Born to Be Wild” – Steppenwolf
Get your motor runnin’
Head out on the highway
Lookin’ for adventure
And whatever comes our way
Yeah Darlin’ go make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once
And explode into space
“Two Steps From Hell (Dragon Rider) Meets Metal” – Eric Calderone
Instrumental
“Learning to Fly” – Pink Floyd
Ice is forming on the tips of my wings
Unheeded warnings I thought I thought of everything
No navigator to find my way home
Unladened, empty and turned to stone
A soul in tension that’s learning to fly
Condition grounded but determined to try
“The Immigrant Song” – Led Zeppelin
How soft your fields so green
Can whisper tales of gore
Of how we calmed the tides of war
“Kyrie” – Mr. Mister
Kyrie eleison, down the road that I must travel
Kyrie eleison, through the darkness of the night
Kyrie eleison, where I’m going will you follow
Kyrie eleison, on a highway in the light
